Sinus Allergy

Acupuncture helps symptoms of sinus allergy effectively such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, water, itching or red eyes, short breath, fatigue, and sinus headache.

Sinus allergy attacks because the body immune system is having a hypersensitive reaction from a response to outside particles such as dust, pollen, mold, animal dander, and air pollution.  These particles are called "allergens."

Acupuncture helps to ease symptoms by lowering the hypersensitive reaction to allergens and at the same time by building up the ability of your body to defend against invasion by allergens.  It is excellent for your over-all health to add Chinese herbs help strengthen and re-build your immune system.

In every 5 Americans at least one suffers from allergies.  Chinese Medicine treatments include acupuncture and Chinese herbs.  Together, these two treatments not only take care the manifestation of symptoms but also eliminates root problems so that you become stronger against future stimulus.

Weight Contol

According to the Daoism health opinion, waist and life usually is contra lateral.   It is the bigger the waist, the shorter the life.  Overweight is always an invisible crisis to threaten your health.

However, nowadays weight control has often been an outcome not only for health but also beauty concern. The natural ways to approach this issue are vary, such as acupuncture, auricular therapy, Chinese herbs, exercise and alkaline diet, which involves less side effects than the pill taking.

The beauty of acupuncture treatments can help the patients’ to reach their ideal weight goal by choosing different acupoints. The treatment efficacy is to help calm nervous system, increase metabolism, decrease appetite and resolve water and fat retention.

In 1998, a study from the University of Adelaide in South Australia showed: 95 percents of the patients received auricular acupuncture with electro-stimulation treatments and reported appetite suppression. So the conclusion was the acupuncture group that experienced appetite suppression to lose weight than the control group.

Pain Management

Headache and migraine

Acupuncture is the best method to relieve chronic headache and mirgaine.  On March 15, 2004 the BMJ (British Medical Journal) online published a study of acupuncture for chronic headache in primary care: large, pragmatic, randomized trial by Andrew J. Vicker at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

401 patients aged 18-65 years old with chronic headache (at least two headaches a month) predominantly migraine, were allotted randomly to two groups.  One control group received conventional treatment with medication.  Another group received 12 acupuncture treatments during a three-month period, in addition to standard medical care.

A year later, the result showed that patients who received acupuncture treatments experienced 22 fewer days with headaches, used 15% less medication, made 25% fewer visits to their doctor and 15% fewer sick days off from work than the control group.

The authors said: "Acupuncture leads to persisting, clinically relevant benefits for primary care patients with chronic headache, particularly migraine."

Back pain

A new study in May 2009, in Seattle, showed that acupuncture helps relieve chronic low back pain better than medications or physical therapy which are standard methods of care.  It produced surprising results in which all three acupuncture techniques tested employed a “sham” technique using toothpicks without puncturing skin.  These tests worked better than the standard methods of care.
Dan Cherkin, PhD, a senior investigator at Group Health Center for Health Studies said: "It did not matter if you just poked on the skin superficially or inserted the needle.  The acupuncture-like treatments had a positive result overall on chronic back pain."

In these results from the group with acupuncture stimulating the meridian points, 60% of patients had meaningful improvements.  The group with standard care produced only 39% of patients with improvement in chronic back pain.  Additionally, the  patients who received acupuncture were able to perform more social activities and house tasks in their daily lives.  Cherkin also mentioned, “Just because you don’t understand how it works doesn’t mean doesn’t work.  It could be worthwhile to try it.”
